2008-01-25The pathfinding core has been optimized: it's about 4½ times faster, with a consing rate of about 15% of what it was previously.
2008-01-24Changes:
  • Updated for latest schedule changes, including the new 124 line. Sorry for the delay.
2008-01-21The Spokesman-Review published an article about En Route Spokane on January 21, 2008. Read the article on S-R's TXT blog (same text as full article).
2008-01-14Changes:
  • Name changed from "Trip Planner" to "En Route." ("Trip Planner" was too generic.)
  • New domain name: enroutespokane.com
  • Refined site layout.
    • Fixed MSIE bug: map overlapped itinerary directions
2008-01-11Changes:
  • More options for the walking/time trade-off ("pedestrian weight"). Times and walking distances for alternative trips are computed in the background and shown under each option on the search form as they are found. The default pedestrian weight has been changed from 1.5 to 3, to give more favor to riding a bus than was done previously.
  • Corrected a mistake in the Help page, regarding how trip planner picks whether to ride the bus or walk.
  • More landmarks.
2007-12-31New features:
  • Landmarks: you can finally enter "plaza" or "airport." Or browse a menu of places-of-interest in Spokane.
  • City qualification: There's a few "117 N. Washington"s in Spokane County: one in Spokane, one in Medical Lake, and one in Deer Park. Trip Planner now recognizes when an address or intersection matches in more than one city and asks you which one you meant. Tack the city on at the end to express the exact location on your first try.
2007-12-20New features:
  • Accepts addresses for locations.
  • Accepts GPS latitude/longitude coordinates.
  • Colors the line on the map differently according to walking or taking the bus.
  • Bus stops are now marked on the map, with info-bubbles.
  • More helpful error messages about not understanding a location.
  • Spelling correction for street names in intersections and addresses.
  • Visual selection of multiple matching locations on the map when a location is ambiguous or misspelled.
  • More detail on distance/travel time: breaks it down according to walking, waiting, and riding the bus.
  • Spiffy logo and web site design. Lots of new content.
